Crack sealing

Due to the effects of traffic and weather conditions, cracks from hydraulic binder shrinkage inevitably rise through to asphalt wearing courses. This phenomenon results in rapid damage to the substrate, drastically reducing the lifespan of the road.

The first preventative response is crack sealing, which ensures that the road foundations are protected immediately after application.

The aims of crack sealing

  • Renew surface impermeability.
  • Stop damage to wearing courses.
  • Extend the lifespan of the road surface.

Key figures

  • More than 15 million linear metres of repairs over the last 5 years
  • Rates of between 2,000 and 6,000 linear metres per day depending on operating conditions
