Behind the scenes of this major undertaking, NEOVIA Maintenance’s mastery of concrete pavement maintenance techniques demonstrates its ability to execute complex projects subject to rigorous technical and regulatory standards.

At an airport facility, every operation takes place within a highly constrained environment. Key challenges include the phasing of work, simultaneous activities, tight project deadlines, and the timely handover of work zones.
A specialized organizational structure was implemented to enable the various teams to work in shifts and seamlessly coordinate their operations.
Central to this successful performance was a daily workforce of 17 to 23 personnel, bringing together the necessary expertise to align resources with the project’s demands. Beyond the staffing levels and volume of work handled, we wish to commend our field teams; their experience and mastery of maintenance techniques were instrumental in maintaining such a demanding pace.

- 68,600 linear meters of hot joint clearing
- 2,099 oblique dowel installations
- 951 load-transfer dowels
- 2,900 linear meters of crack sealing, following initial opening with a jackhammer
- 2,800 linear meters of deep sawing (up to 40 cm through the full slab depth) in exceptionally hard flint-aggregate concrete
- 2,200 linear meters of deep sawing along expansion joints
- 35 slab stress-relief core drillings prior to demolition
To support this mobilization of personnel, substantial equipment was deployed at the work site:
- 8 floor saws designed for deep cutting
- 2 tractors equipped with a hydraulic arm to remove existing joint material prior to sawing
- 6 application melters, including 3 joint-sealing units
- 2 angled drilling rigs (dowel-hole drills)
- 2 trailer-mounted hydraulic core drills
- 3 5,000-liter compressors
- 8 vans
- 2 26-tonne box trucks
This concentration of human and material resources ensured operational continuity and allowed the project to progress in step with the slab reconstruction schedule.
